About the CD
We have digitised Victorian Ordnance Survey maps of Neath made in 1877 and made them into this interactive resource CD. It includes maps at 1:2500 (25 inches to a mile) and the special large-scale town maps at 1:500 (1014 feet to a mile), showing the town and surrounding area in detail.
It will work with your internet browser to enable you to navigate around the map.
- Zoom in to the map to see each property in detail or out to view the whole town.
- Pan left, right, up and down to follow a street or find a property.
- Use the street index to find a place, street or building named on the map and go straight to it.
The resource CD also includes:
- Information about how the map came to be made and what it tells us about Victorian Neath.
- Copies of some Neath trade directories for the 1870s.
- A key to the symbols used on the map.
