It saddens the Society to report that following the City of Swansea CBC budget cuts the service delivered at the Neath Mechanics' Institute will reduce by 50% from four days to two days, being Monday and Thursday.
The new arrangment will begin on 1st August 2016.
Mondays will be staffed by WGAS personnel who will provide a full service for Family History and access to the NAS archive.
Thursdays are intended to be primarily Family History days and will be staffed by a WGAS Family History officer accompanied by a NAS volunteer. However, it will be possible to access items from the NAS archive through the NAS volunteer.
The Society is extremely mindful of researchers, both amateur and professional (particularly from outside the locality or abroad) who are unable to fit these two days into their itinery. In such instances arrangments can be made for a special appointment to provide access to the archive. Such requests should be made through the contact page on this site. The Society will make every endeavour to satisfy such requests.
